Emergency departments across the country charge 12 times more than a primary care physician and 10 times more than an urgent care facility. That’s according to a UnitedHealth Group study published in 2019 for visits not considered true emergencies. Of the 27 million ER visits per year, 18 million are considered non-emergencies. The average urgent care visit costs patients $71-125 for basic care, with additional costs added for shots, x-rays, and labs. The average emergency room visit costs $1,318. The average emergency room has a wait time of 2.4 hours, whereas urgent care centers are able to see walk-in patients within 15-45 minutes . The rule of thumb is if you are experiencing a life threatening emergency (electrical shock, sever burns, chest pain, uncontrolled bleeding, etc., then go to the ER. All other usually can be seen with an Urgent Care Physician.
Yes! You can keep that same doctor you spoke to on the phone or video conference. Simply click the "See a doctor now" button from within the Benefit Logistics App and you will have an option of speaking to someone new or choosing the previous doctor. It's that simple!
While in the Benefit Logistics Application simply go to your claims tab and you will see a highlighted "May be eligible for Reimbursement" button. This will automatically route the claim to the reimbursement department.
